Barnes, George Nicoll
1859 - George Nicoll Barnes was born 2nd of January in Lochee, Dundee.
1895 - Barnes joined the Independent Labour Party and unsuccessfully contested Rochdale.
1896-1908 - George Nicoll was apprenticed as an engineer and became General Secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers.
1900 - Barnes was a delegate at the formation of the Labour Representation Committee.
1906 - George Nicoll was elected as MP for Glasgow Blackfriars and Hutchesontown at the general election for the Labour Party.
1910-1911 - George Nicoll was leader of the Labour Party.
1916-1917 - He was Minister of Pensions.
1917-1920 - George Nicoll served as Minister without Portfolio under David Lloyd George.
1940 - George Nicoll Barnes died 21st of April.
