1910 - Samuel Osborne Barber was born on 9th of March in West Chester, Pennsylvania USA.


Studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.


1935 - Became the fellow of the American Academy in Rome.


1936 - He wrote his String Quartet in B minor.


1958 - Composed operas "Vanessa" which won the Pulitzer Prize for music.


1960 - Wrote a virtuosic work for organ and orchestra, Toccata Festiva, for the famed organist E. Power Biggs.


1966 - Composed Antony and Cleopatra" it was first work performed by New York Metropolitan Opera.


1981 - Samuel Osborne Barber died on 23rd of January in New York City.
