1942 - Born on the 12th of February in Mishmar HaSharon Kibbutz, British Mandate of Palestine.

 

1959 - Barak joined the Israel Defense Forces.

 

He is also an expert in art of krav maga, the official martial art of the Israeli Defense Forces.

 

1976 - Earned his bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

 

1978 - Barak earned his master's degree in engineering-economic systems from Stanford University.

 

1983-1986 - Served as Director of Israeli military intelligence.

 

1987-1991 - Became Israeli army deputy chief of staff.

 

1991-1994 - Served as Israeli army chief of staff.

 

1995 - He served as Minister of the Interior.

 

1995-1996 - Barak became the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

 

1996 - Elected to the Knesset,  and served as  member of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

 

     - Barak became the leader of the Labor Party.

 

1999-2001 - Elected Prime Minister of Israel.
