Bar-Lev, Haim

1924 - Born on the 16th of November in Vienna, Austria.
1948 - Colonel and commander of the Eighth Battalion (Mechanized) in the Negev Brigade.
1956 - Commanded the 27th Armoured Brigade, which captured the Gaza Strip, before turning southwest and reaching the Suez Canal.
1962 - Became the commanding officer of the Northern Command.
- Director of Operations within the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
1967 - He served as the Deputy Chief of Staff in the IDF.
1968-1971 - Served as IDF's Chief of General Staff, which made him the highest-ranking military officer.
1973 - He replace Shmuel "Gorodish" Gonen as chief of the Southern Command.
1977-1984 - Served as General Secretary of the party and as a Member of the Knesset.
1984-1990 - Bar-Lev served as Minister of Police and as a member of the "inner cabinet."
1992 - He retired from the Knesset.
1992-1994 - Bar-Lev served in Moscow as Israel's Ambassador to Russia.
1997 - He died on 7th of May in Tel Aviv.
