Banks, Nathaniel Prentice
1816 - Born on the 30th of January in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Studied law and admitted to the Suffolk County bar and commenced practice in Boston.
1849-1852 - Banks is a member of the State house of representatives.
1853 - He becomes the member of the State constitutional convention.
1853 - Elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-third Congress.
1857 - Resigned in the Congress to become Governor.
1858-1861 - Served as Speaker of the House of Representatives (Thirty-fourth Congress); Governor of Massachusetts.
1861 - Served as Vice President of the Illinois Central Railroad and entered the Union Army as a major general of Volunteers.
1865 - Elected as a Republican to the 39th Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Daniel W. Gooch.
1865-1873 - Re-elected as a Republican to the Fortieth, Forty-first, and Forty-second Congresses.
1875-1879 - Elected as an Independent to the Forty-fourth Congress and as a Republican to the Forty-fifth Congress.
1879-1888 - He was appointed United States marshal.
1889-1891 - Banks was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-first Congress.
1890 - Died on 1st of September in Waltham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
