Bankhead, William Brockman
1874 - Born on the 12th of April in Moscow, Lamar County, Alabama.
1893 - Attended and graduated from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
1895 - Bankhead graduated at Georgetown University Law School at Washington, D.C.
- Admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Huntsville, Alabama.
1901-1901 - Bankhead was the member of the State house of representatives.
1898-1902 - He served as city attorney of Huntsville.
1905 - Bankhead moved to Jasper, Walker County, Alabama and continued the practice of law.
1910-1914 - Served as solicitor of the fourteenth judicial circuit of Alabama.
1914 - He is unsuccessful to be a candidate for nomination to the Sixty-fourth Congress.
1935-1937 - Served as House majority leader.
1936-1940 - Bankhead becomes the Speaker of the House.
1917-1940 - He was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-fifth and to the eleven succeeding Congresses.
1940 - He died on 15th September in Washington, D.C.
