1916 - Born on the 19th of November on a farm in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
1938 - Received a B.A. in English from the University of Connecticut.
1952 - Banfield received Ph.D. in political science in University of Chicago.
1952-1959 - He served as faculty of University of Chicago.
1955 - Banfield and Meyerson published an account of how Chicago built public housing projects.
1958 - Wrote with the assistance of his wife Laura, The Moral Basis of a Backward Society, a "work for the ages".
1970 - Banfield's most famous book, The Unheavenly City.
1999 - Edward C. Banfield died peacefully at his Vermont summer home.
