1916 - Sirimavo Ratwatte Dias Bandaranaike was born 17th of April.
1960-1965 - Became prime minister of Sri Lanka (world's 1st woman elected prime minister).
1962 - Bandaranaike crushed an attempted military coup against her government.
1964 - Entered into a historic coalition with the Lanka Sama Samaja Party.
1970 - Her second term begins as President, Ceylon was renamed Sri Lanka and declared a republic.
1977 - She was defeated in a general election.
1973 - Oil crisis had a traumatic effect on the Sri Lankan economy that hardly faced by Bandaranaike.
1976 - Earned respect from abroad. She become chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement.
1980 - Bandaranaike was expelled from parliament for abuse of power.
1994-2000 - Elected as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
2000 - She died on Election Day on the 10th of October.
