Banana, Canaan Sodindo

1936 - Born on the 5th of March in Esiphezini in the former British colony of Souther Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).
1938 - He married Janet.
1962 - Awarded a diploma in theology at Epworth Theological College in Harare.
- Ordained as a United Methodist minister.
1976 - He was arrested for not having any esteem toward Muzowera.
1979 - Lord Soames ascension to power, Banana recovered his liberty.
1980 - Became the first president and first black leader of Zimbabwe.
1982 - A law was passed forbidding citizens from making jokes about his name.
1987 - His post was taken over by Mugabe, who made himself executive president.
1997 - Arrested in Zimbabwe on charges of sodomy.
1998 - Banana was found guilty of eleven charges of sodomy, attempted sodomy and indecent assault.
1999 - Sentenced on 18th of January to ten years in jail, nine years suspended and he was also defrocked.
2001 - Banana was released in January.
2003 - Banana died on 10th of November because of cancer.
