1868 – He married Christine Pauline Rinck.

1885 – His major contribution was the empirical formula for the spectral lines of the hydrogen atom.

Balmer’s formula computed the wavelength as follows:n = 2, h = 3.6546×10-7 m, and m = 3, 4, 5, 6, and so forth.

1898 – Johann Balmer died on 12th of May in Basel.

He remembered for his work on spectral series and his formula for the wavelengths of the spectral lines of the hydrogen atom
