Ballance, Frank W. Jr.

1942 - Born on the 15th of February in Bertie County, North Carolina.

1959 - Graduated from W.S. Etheridge High School.

1963 - Earned his BS degree in North Carolina Central University.    

1965 - Awarded JD, North Carolina Central University.

1965-1966 - Professor in South Carolina State College.

1968-1971 - He is in the NC National Guard Reserve.

1983-1986 - Elected to the state legislature and served in the North Carolina House of Representatives.

1983-2002 - Ballance served in the state legislature.

1997-2002 - He served as deputy president pro tempore.

2004 - Resigned from his seat due to health issues after being diagnosed with myasthenia gravis.

         - Ballance was indicted on federal charges including, money laundering, mail fraud, and conspiracy.

         - Pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and money laundering.

2005 - Disbarred from the practice of law in the state of North Carolina.

         - Ballance was sentenced to four years in prison.
