Ball, Harvey Ross

1921 - Born on the 10th of July in Worcester, Massachusetts.

1959 - Started his own business, Harvey Ball Advertising.

1973 - Retired as a Brigadier General.

1979 - He retired as a full colonel.

1999 - Awarded the Bronze Star for heroism during the Battle of Okinawa.

He was awarded the Veteran of the Year award from the Worcester Veterans Council.

1963 - He invented the Smiley.

1971 - Smiley Face buttons were sold, and the smiley has been described as an international icon.

2001 - Died on 12th of April because of liver failure.
