Baldwin, Abraham
American politician
1754 - Born on the 23rd of November , in Guilford, Connecticut.
1772 - Graduated from Yale University in nearby New Haven.
1775-1779 - He became a minister and tutor at the college.
1783 - Turned to the study of law and was admitted to the bar at Fairfield.
1785-1801 - Served as the first president of the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia.
1785 - He sat in the assembly and the Continental Congress.
1789-1799 - Elected to the U.S. Congress House of Representatives.
1799-1807 - He served as Senator in Georgia.
1801-1802 - He is the President pro tempore of Senate.
1807 - Baldwin, who never married, died after a short illness and buried in Washington's Rock Creek Cemetery.
