1863 – Baker was one of the founders of the First National Bank of New York.

         – When the national banking system was created, Baker joined with several New York stockbrokers to establish the First National Bank of New York City.

1877 – Became the president of the First National Bank of New York.

1909 – Was the chairman of its board of directors.

1931 – Died on May 2nd at the age of 91 in New York City.
