Baker, Elzie Wylie (Buck)
American racecar driver.
1919 - Born on the 4th of March in Richburg, South Carolina.
1939 - Entered his first race in Greenville, South Carolina.
1953 - Won in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
1956-1957 - He won back-to-back of the Grand National (now Nextel Cup) Championship.
1960 - He got to won again in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
1964 - Elzie Wylie Baker won the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
1967 - Baker switched to NASCAR's Grand American division, where he was also very successful.
1976 - opened up the Buck Baker Racing School.
1982 - National Motorsports Press Association's Hall of Fame.
1998 - He was named one of the NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers.
2002 - Buck Baker died on 14th of April at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N. Carolina.
