James Anthony Bailey is a US circus showman and circus manager.
1847 - Born on the 4th of July in Detroit, Michigan.
Worked as a bellhop in Pontiac, Michigan.
Discovered by Fred Harrison Bailey (a nephew of circus pioneer Hachaliah Bailey).
Married to Ruth McCaddon of Zanesville, Ohio.
1872 - Bailey became associated with James E. Cooper.
1881 - Met with P.T. Barnum and together they established Barnum and Bailey's Circus.
1906 - James Anthony Bailey died 11th of April in Mount Vernon, New York.
1919 - Barnum and Bailey's joined with the Ringling Brothers to form the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
