1814 – Don Facundo Bacardí Massó was born in Sitges (Catalonia).
1830 – He settled in Cuba.
1844 – In Santiago, he became the owner of a mercantile shop.
1852 – Began to experiment with the process of distilling rum or sugar-cane brandy, until he was able to obtain a much milder drink.
1862 – Established the eponym of Bacardi rum distillery and constituted the firm Bacardi.
1872 – He turned the management of the company over to his sons Emilio and Facundo Bacardí Moreau.
1890 – The son José and son in law Enrique Schueg would become partners in the firm.
