1944 – Daniel Auster was appointed mayor by the British High Commissioner after the death of Mustafa Al-Khalidi.

1947 – He represented the Jewish case against the internationalization of Jerusalem before the United Nations.

1949-1950 – Became the Mayor of Jerusalem.
