Atkins, Robert Coleman

1930 - Born on the 17th of October.

1951 - Atkins graduated from the University of Michigan.

1955 - Received a medical degree from Cornell Medical College , after which he specialized in cardiology and complementary medicine.

1972 - Wrote "Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution".

2000 - Atkins started to develop a heart condition, cardiomyopathy, which he claimed was unrelated to his diet.

2002 - On the 18th of April, Atkins suffered a cardiac arrest. He made a recovery and returned to work.

2003 - On the 8th of April, Atkins slipped on ice and fell in front of his medical office in New York City and sustained major head injuries that put him in a coma.

         - Died on the 17th of April.

2005 - On the 31st of July, Atkins Nutritionals the company that Dr. Atkins founded, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New York.
