Archer, George William
1939 - Born in San Francisco, California on the 1st of October.
1964 - He turned professional and claimed the first of 12 victories on the PGA Tour at the Lucky International Open the following year.
1968 - The PGA Championship, where he took 4th place.
1969 - His other top ten finishes in the majors came at the U.S. Open, where he came 10th.
1975 - Archer was hampered by injuries throughout his career and has had surgery on his left wrist.
1980 - Archer is considered one of the game's all-time great putters, and at one time held the PGA Tour record for fewest putts over four rounds with 95 putts at the Sea Pines Heritage Classic.
1989 - He won nineteen times on the Senior Tour.
2000 - He did not win a senior major.
2005 - Died on the 25th of September in Incline Village, Nevada at the age of 65.
