1915 - Born on the 18th of January in Ontario, Canada.

1936-1948 - He was a Canadian professional hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs and a Conservative Member of Provincial Parliament in Ontario.

1936 - Represented Canada at the Olympics in Berlin, Germany, where he placed sixth in the pole vault.

1937 - He was the winner of the first Calder Trophy.

1939 - He also played for an all-star team competing in Montreal on October to raise money for Babe Siebert's family.

1942 - Received the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

1947 - Served as the Maple Leafs captain during the first National Hockey League All-Star Game October at Maple Leaf Gardens.

1961 - He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame .

1963-1975 - He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

1963-1967 - He represented the riding of Kingston.

1967-1975 - Represented the riding of Kingston and the Islands.

1971-1974 - He served as the Minister of Correctional Services.

1975 - He was elected to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and two years later he was made a Member of the Order of Canada.

1998 - He was ranked number 33 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players.

       - Died on the 24th of December in Cambridge, Ontario.
