1861 – Born on the 4th of September in San Rafael, California.
1879 – Attended private school and the Lowell High School in San Francisco, graduating.
1882 – He studied law with Judges Darwin and Murphy of San Francisco, and also attended the Hastings Law School, from which he graduated Bachelor of Laws.
1884 – In November, he was elected district attorney, filling that office six years.
– He married, on the 27th of December to Miss Emma C. Cearley, of California.
1890 – He was chosen judge of the Superior Court of Marin County, one of the youngest men ever chosen to this responsible office.
1898-1899 – He is a member of the Society of Colonial Wars, and was grand master of the Masonic Grand Lodge of California.
1903 – In January, he went on the Supreme bench as an associate justice.
1915 – Became chief justice of the California Supreme Court.
1921 – He resigned on the 15th of November as Supreme Court Judge, and has since been engaged in private practice.
1932 – Died this year.
