1892 - Born on August 11th in Kro[niewice-BBonie, Congress Poland, Russian Empire. An army officer who commanded the Polish forces in the Middle East and Italy during World War II and became a leading figure among the anticommunist Poles who refused to return to their homeland after the war.

1919 - He led the regiment in battle against the Red Army in the Polish-soviet war.

1939 - He was the Commander of the Nowogrodek Calvary Brigade. His cavalry fought at Lidzbark but withdrew from the overwhelming German attack.

1944 - His achievement was the capture of Monte Cassino on May 17-18th, after three attempts by others had failed.

1954 - Anders was elected to the Rada Trzech (Council of Three), which was the organ of the executive authority of the Polish emigrants.

1970 - Died on May 12th in London, England.
