399 AD - He was appointed as a pope on November 27th.


           - His pontificate was marked by his condemnation of Origen in order to stop the errors of those who followed and expanded upon Origen's teachings, his urging the African bishops to continue their opposition to Donatism, and his personal holiness and piety.


400 AD - Anastasius earned the praise of St. Jerome (Letter 127) for censuring the works of Origen, one of the most influential theologians of the early Greek church.


401 AD - Died on December 19th in Italy and was succeeded by St. Innocent I.
