1922 - Amis was born on the 16th of April in Clapham, South London.
1930 - He studied at the City Of London.
1941 - He attended St. John's College Oxford and met Philip Larkin.
1942 - He entered the Army in July serving in the Royal Corps of Signlas in World War II.
1945 - In October, he returned to Oxford to finish his degree.
1946 - He met Hilary Bardwell while studying in Oxford.
1948 - He married Hilary Bardwell and became a lecturer in English at the University of Wales Swansea.
1958 - He made a visit to the United States where he became Visiting Fellow in Creative Writing at Princeton University.
1961 - After 13 years of working at Swansea, he resigned and became a fellow of Peterhouse at Cambridge.
1963 - Amis was conducting an affair with the novelist Elizabeth Jane Howard and was discovered by Hilary. He and Hilary separated and went to live with Jane.
1990 - Amis received his Knighthood.
1995 - In August, he had a fall which became a suspected stroke. His condition worsened after his apparent recovery. He died on the 22nd of October.
