1969 - returned to England when she was 11 to study at the Holy Cross Convent School

 

1979 - they had to leave Iran after the Islamic Revolution

 

1979-1983

- flew to the United States and studied Journalism at the University of Rhode Island

- worked for NBC affiliate WJAR in Providence, Rhode Island

 

1983 - got hired by CNN

 

1989 - was assigned to Frankfurt, West Germany to report about the democratic revolutions in Eastern Europe

 

1990 - became famous in her coverage of the Persian Gulf War which followed the occupation of Iraq over Kuwait

 

1993 - was awarded with the Peabody

 

1996-2005

- had a contract with CBS for four to five in-depth news coverage of international issues

 

1998 - bagged the Peabody Award

- married James Rubin

 

2000 - bore a son named Darius John Rubin

 

2006 - ranked no. 72 of the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women in the World
