1845 - Born on May 30th in Turin, Piedmont, Kingdom of Sardinia. Second son of Vittorio Emanuele II, who was King of Sardinia.
1867 - He married Maria Victoria al Pozzo della Cisterna and they had three children, Emanuele Filiberto, Vittorio Emanuele, and Luigi.
1870 - Elected as the King of Spain, session of the Cortes Constituyentes (Constituent Cortes), Palacio de las Cortes, Madrid.
- Accepted election at a meeting with the delegation of Spanish officials, Palazzo Pitti, Florence, Italy.
- Landed at Cartagena, Spain.
1871 - Sworn to uphold the constitution, session of the Constituent Cortes, Palacio de las Cortes, Madrid.
1872 - Faced an outburst of internal party rivalry and escaped assassination attempt.
1873 - Abdicated on the 11th of Feb, submitted to the Asamblea Nacional (National Assembly), session of the National Assembly, salón de sesiones del Congreso de los Diputados, Palacio de las Cortes, Madrid; resignation accepted by the National Assembly.
1890 - Died in Turin, Italy.
