Allred, James
1899 - James Allred was born in Bowie, Texas on March 29, 1899.
1917 - He was enrolled in Rice Institute but he left the school due to financial problems.
1918 - He was known as "Vee" which he was enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
1923 - He entered into a public service which he was appointed as an assisstant district attorney in Wichita Falls by Governor Pat Neff.
1924 - He was elected elected to a full term.
1926 - He ran as a Democrat for attorney general of Texas but was defeated.
1927 - He married Joe Betsy Miller on June 20, 1927.
1930 - He was elected attoney general.
1932 - He was re-elected.
1935-1939 - He served as Texas governor.
1939-1942 - He was appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to district in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
1951 - He was re-appointed to the Southern District judgeship by President Harry S. Truman.
1959 - He died of heart attack in Laredo, Texas on September 24, 1959.
