1897 - Born on the 11th of November in Montezuma, Indiana.

 

1915 - He was enabled to join his brother Floyd at Harvard College through the scholarships.

 

1919 - Finished his A.B. degree with majors in philosophyand economics.

 

1921 - He received his M.A. degree.

 

1922 - He received his Ph.D..

 

1924 - Returned to Harvard as an instructor in social ethics.

 

1925 - Married Ada Lufkin Gould.

 

1937 - Associate Professor of Psychology.

    

         - Published his first major book entitled Personality: A Psychological Interpretation.

    

         - He was the editor of the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology.

 

1939 - Elected as president of the American Psychological Association.

 

1942 - Became a full professor of psychology.

 

1958 - Awarded an honorary L.H.D. degree by Boston University.

 

1961 - Published a major revision of his work entitled Pattern and Growth in Personality.

 

1963 - Awarded the Gold Medal of the American Psychological Foundation.

 

1964 - He received the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award.

 

1967 - He died 9th of October due to lung cancer in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
