Allin, John Maury

1921 - Allin was born in Helena, Arkansas on April 22, 1921.

1943 - Graduated with a degree in History at the University of South Sewanee.

1945 - Earned his Master of Divinity and was ordained to priesthood in the Diocese of Arkansas.

1949 - Married Francess Ann Kelly.

1952 - Became Rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe, Louisiana.

1958 - Became president and headmaster of All Saints School.

1961-1966 - Appointed Bishop Coadjutor of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi.

1974-1986 - Became the 23rd Bishop of the Episcopal Church with a term from June 1, 1974 to December 31, 1985.

1998 - Died from a stroke in Jackson, Mississippi on March 6, 1998.
