1963 – Had a job which concerns translating Romance novels from English to Spanish.

1967 – Worked as an editorial staff for Paula Magazine.

1973-1974 – Worked as an editorial staff for the children’s magazine Mampato.

1975 – Went in exile and lived at Venezuela. She worked for the Caracas newspaper El Nacional.

1982 – Wrote the book entitled The House of the Spirits.

1988 – Married Willie Gordon.

2003 – She was able to obtain her US citizenship.

2006 – She was invited to be one of the eight flag bearers at the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics.
