1795 - Allen was in Providence, Rhode Island on September 15, 1795.

 

1813 - Attended and graduated from Brown University.

 

1815 - Studied law at Brown University and was admitted to the bar.

 

1821 - Constructed the first hot-air furnace for the heating of dwelling houses.

 

1833 - Invented the automatic cut-off valve for steam engines and have it patented.

 

1882 - Died on March 17, 1882.
