1693 – Allen was baptised on July 24, 1693 at St. Columb Major, Cornwall.

1706 – At the age of thirteen, he started working at the Post Office.

1710 – Became a clerk in the Bath Post Office.

1712 – Promoted as the Post Master of Bath.

1725 – Elected as a member of the town council.

1738 – Gave money and supported the building of the Mineral Water Hospital.

1742 – He built the Palladian mansion Prior Park and was elected Mayor of Bath.

1757-1764 – A member of Parliament of for Bath for seven years. On June 29, 1764, died at the age of seventy-one.
