1913 - Allen was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 14, 1913.

 

1933 - Attended and graduated at the University of Alabama.

 

1937 - Worked as a staff announcer at the CBS Radio Network.

 

1939-1943 - Became the main broadcaster for the Yankee Games. At the break of World War II, he joined the US Army in which he became the broadcaster of the The Army Hour and Armed Forces Radio Service programs.

 

1960 - Became the play-by-play announcer of New York Football Giants games on WCBS Radio.

 

1965 - Became the play-by-play announcer of the Milwaukee Braves.

 

1968 - Became the play-by-play announcer of the Cleveland Indians.

 

1976-1985 - Worked again as the play-by-play announcer of the Yankees. He received the Ford C. Frick Award.

 

1988 - He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.

 

1995 - He was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

 

1996 - Died in Connecticut on June 16, 1996.
