1950 - Alito was born in Trenton, New Jersey on April 1, 1950.
1972 - Attended Steinert High School in Hamilton Township, New Jersey and received his bachelor's degree.
1975 - Attended Yale Law School. Became the editor of the Yale Law Journal and earned his Juris Doctor. Attended the Officer Basic Course for Signal Corps officers at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
1976-1977 - Worked as a Law clerk for Leonard I. Garth of the Third Circuit.
1977-1981 - Worked as Assistant United States Attorney in the District of New Jersey.
1981-1985 - Became Assistant to Solicitor General Rex E. Lee. Married Martha-Ann Alito.
1985-1987 - Worked as Deputy Assistant to Attorney General Edwin Meese.
1987-1990 - Promoted to United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
1990 - Appointed as Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
1999-2004 - Became Adjunct Professor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey.
2006 - Became Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
