1832 – Horatio Alger was born in Chelsea on the 13th of January.

1857 – He attended Harvard Divinity School.

1864 – He took a position as minister of the First Parish Unitarian Church of Brewster on Cape Cod in December 1864.

1866 – He resigned and left town, and retired to South Natick.

1867 – Formed the basis of the first novel in his Ragged Dick series.

1899 – He died in Natick on the 18th of July.
