1872 – Hugo Alfven was born in Stockholm on the 1st of May.

1887-1891 – He studied at the Music Conservatory with the violin as his main instrument.

1890-1892 – He was a violinist in the Royal Opera Orchestra.

1897 – He started travelling in Europe.

1897-1892 – He continued his violin studies with Cesar Thomson in Brussels.

1903 – He wrote Midsommarvak

1908 – He was a member of the Royal Academy of Music.

1910 – He was the musi director at the University of Uppsala.

1912 – He married to Marie Triepcke.

1917 – He was made hon. Ph.D. Uppsala University.

1936 – He married again after his divorce from Marie to Carin Wessberg.

1947 – He directed the male voice choir Orphei Drangar.

1959 – He married to Anna Lund after Carin died.

1960 – He died on the 8th of May.
