1875 – Alfano was born in Naples, Italy on March 8, 1875.

1880-1885 – Attended piano lessons under Alessandro Longo, composition lessons under Camillo de Nardis and harmony lessons under Paulo Serrao at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory.

1885 – Pursued a higher level of composition studies with Hans Sitt and Salomon Jadassohn in Leipzig.

1896 – Completed his first opera entitled Miranda, wrote a libretto and novel.

1904 – Finished the Risurrezione based on Tolstoy.

1918 – Became Director of the Conservatory of Bologna.

1923 – Directed the Turin Conservatory.

1926 – Completed Giacomo Puccini’s unfinished opera entitled "Turandot".

1954 – Died in San Remo on October 27, 1954.
