Alexius II(Alexey Mikhailovich Ridiger, Alexy II)

1929 - Alexius II was born in Tallinn, Estonia on the 23rd of February.

1949 - Attended and graduated from Leningrad clerical seminary.

1950 - Ordained as a deacon.

1953 - Attended and graduated from Leningrad clerical academy.

1961 - Became the Bishop of Tallinn and Estonia on the 14th of August.

1964 - Promoted to Archbishop on the 23rd of June.

1968 - Became Russian Orthodox metropolitan of Tallinn at the age of 39 on the 25th of February.

1986 - Became Russian Orthodox metropolitan of Leningrad and Novgorod.

1990 - Became the new Russian Orthodox patriarch of Moscow of The Russian Orthodox Church.
