1150 - Became  Cardinal Deacon of the Title of Santi Cosma e Damiano.

 

1153 - Became Papal Cgacellor and leader of the cardinals opposed to Frederick I Barbarossa. Participated in the negotiations for restoring peaceful relations which is named The Treaty of Benevento.

 

1159 - Became Pope on September 7, 1159.

 

1179 - Led the Third Council of the Lateran.

 

1181 - He excommunicated William I of Scotland and died on August 20, 1181.
