Pink was born Alecia Beth Moore on September 8th 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  Her parents were James Moore, Jr and Judith Kugel Moore. She grew up with music as her father was a musician who sang to her as a child.  Her first band in High School was called Middleground.  They broke up after losing a Battle of the Bands contest.  She started performing in the Philadelthia clubs when she was 14 and started an all girl trio called Choice in 1995 at age 16.  They recorded an album and had a song appear on the soundtrack for the movie "Kazaam" starring Shaquille O'Neal.  Choice broke up in 1998 and she embarked on a solo career.  She got the idea for the name Pink from Mr. Pink, a character in the Quinten Tarantino movie "Reservoirs Dogs." Her first album, "Can't Take Me Home" went double platinum and had two top ten singles in the US.  It sold more than five million copies. With artists Mya, Christine Aguilera and Lil' Kim she recorded a remake of the the LaBelle song "Lady Marmalade" for the movie Moulin Rouge! starring Nicole Kidman and Ewen McGregor.  The song won Pink her first Grammy Award. For her second album Pink decided to work with former 4 Non Blondes' singer Linda Perry and released M!ssundaztood.  Perry co wrote many of the songs and co produced the album.  It has sold more than fifteen million copies going five times Platinum in the US. Her third album was "Try This" which went Platinum and had over five million in sales. Her fourth album, "I'm Not Dead" came in 2006, selling over six million copies.   "Funhouse," her fifth album was released in 2008 and is certified double platinum.  It sold more than 86,000 copies within its first week of release. It also gave her her first number one hit: “So What.”Altogether she has sold more than thirty million albums to date. Pink is married to Motocross racer Carey Hart.  They met in 2001 and got married in Costa Rica in 2006.  They were separated for a while but they recounciled and as of November 2010 she is reported to be pregnant with their first child. She has contributed songs or performance to albums of many other musicians including Faith Hill, Lisa Marie Presley, the Indigo Girls, India Arie, Hilary Duff, Natalia, Annie Lennox, Herbie Hancock and Eminem. In addition to the film "Kazaam," she has also contributed songs to movies such as "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," "Save the Last Dance," "The Princess DIaries," and the animated "Happy Feet." Pink was rated by Billboard Magazine as the number one Pop song Artist of the decade and number thirteen overall.  She was rated by Forbes Magazine as number 27 in their Celebrity 100 of the one hundred most powerful celebs.  She has sold more than thirty million albums and been nominated for a Grammy nine times and won twice.  Out of the eight nominations she has received for MTV Video Music Awards, she had won five times. She is active supporting a number of charities including PETa, UNICEF, Take Back the Night, Save the Children, Run for the Cure and the New York Restoration Project.
