1930 –  Aldrin was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on January 20, 1930.

1951 – Attended and graduated with honors at West Point. Participated in the Korean War as a jet fighter in the US Air Force.

1954 – Attended and earned his doctorate of science in Astronautics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.

1963 – He was selected by NASA as one of the astronaut to go to the moon.

1966 – Established a new record for Extra-Vehicular Activity in space on the Gemini XII orbital flight mission.

1969 – He and Neil Armstrong made their first historical walk in the moon.

1970 – Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom award.

1972 – Retired from service after 21 years of active duty.

1988 – Married Lois Driggs Cannon on February 14, 1988.

1993 – Patented his design for a permanent space station.

1996 – Wrote the space novel entitled Encounter with Tiber.

2000 – Wrote the space novel entitled The Return.
