Aldrin, Edwin Eugene Jr. (Buzz Eugene Aldrin)
1930 - Aldrin was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on January 20, 1930.
1951 - Attended and graduated with honors at West Point. Participated in the Korean War as a jet fighter in the US Air Force.
1954 - Attended and earned his doctorate of science in Astronautics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
1963 - He was selected by NASA as one of the astronaut to go to the moon.
1966 - Established a new record for Extra-Vehicular Activity in space on the Gemini XII orbital flight mission.
1969 - He and Neil Armstrong made their first historical walk in the moon.
1970 - Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom award.
1972 - Retired from service after 21 years of active duty.
1988 - Married Lois Driggs Cannon on February 14, 1988.
1993 - Patented his design for a permanent space station.
1996 - Wrote the space novel entitled Encounter with Tiber.
2000 - Wrote the space novel entitled The Return.
