1881-1911 – Elected to the United States Senate, an influential Republican who was responsible for most of the financial legislation of the early 20th century. Became the chief sponsor of the Aldrich-Vreeland Act and author of the Payne-Aldrich Tariff Act of 1910.
1915 – Died in New York City on April 16, 1915.
