1848 - Albert I was born in Paris, France on November 13, 1948.

 

1865 - Joined the Spanish Navy and later joined the French Navy where he was awarded the Legion of Honor.

 

1869 - Married Lady Mary Victoria Hamilton on September 21, 1869.

 

1870 - Became interested in oceanography and recorded numerous oceanographic studies, maps and charts.

 

1889 - Became King of Monaco on September 10, 1889 and married the dowager duchess Marie Alice Heine.

 

1909 - Became a member of the British Academy of Science.

 

1911 - Granted Monaco an Constitution and was suspended by the Prince at the start of WWI.

 

1920 - Received the Gold Medal Award from the American Academy of Science for his achievements.

 

1922 - Died in Paris, France on June 26, 1922.
