Brooke, Alan Francis
1883 - Brooke was born in Bagneres-de-Bigorre, France on July 23, 1883.
1899 - Studied at the Royal Military Academy.
1914 - Joined Royal Artillery in France and was promoted as a Lieutenant-Colonel.
1938 - Commanded the II corps of the British Expeditionary Force.
1940 - Appointed to command the United Kingdom Home Forces.
1941-1946 - Appointed as Chief of the Imperial General Staff and was promoted to Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee. He joined the Western Allies' ultimate command, the U.S.-British Combined Chiefs of Staff, in Washington D.C.. Became Baron Alanbrooke of Brookeborough, County Fermanagh and later as Viscount Alanbrooke.
1953 - After his retirement, he served as Lord High Constable of England during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
1963 - Died on June 17, 1963.
