1978 - Aiken was born by the name of Clayton Holmes Grissom in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 30, 1978.
1997 - At the age of 19, he served as a substitute teacher for a classrom of students with autism at Brentwood Elementary School.
2003 - Aiken was rose to fame on the second season of the television program American Idol. He released his debut album Measure of a Man on october 14, 2003 and received an RIAA Double Platinum certification on November 17, 2003. Aiken appeared in numerous television specials during winter. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in special education on December 2003.
2004 - Aiken embarked on the "Independent Tour" with Kelly Clarkson on April. He performed a duet with Kimberly Locke's debut album released on May 2004. He released his third tour of the year on November 2004. He also released his holiday album entitled Merry Christmas With Love. Aiken starred in his first TV special on December 2004. He was been a spokesperson for the 2004 Toys for Tots and an ambassador for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Aiken was appointed in a United States Fund for UNICEF National Ambassador.
2005 - He played the role of Kenny in the sitcom Scrubs on February 2005. He was a celebrity guest of designer Kenneth Cole during the Fashion Week shows in New York City on September 2005. He launched his second Christmas tour on early November 2005. He was sent to the tsunami-stricken Banda Aceh area on March 2005 to raise awareness of the need to restore education quickly to the children who survived in the disaster. Aiken was been the spokesperson for the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF drive.
2006 - Aiken released his third album entitled A Thousand Different Ways on September 19, 2006. He visited Middlesex School in Darien, Connecticut. He was appointed to the Presidential Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities on September 2006. He was sworn in September 14, 2006 by the HHS Assistant Secretary for Children and Families.
