Ahmed, Iajuddin
1931 - Born on the 1st of February in Munshiganj District, Bengal (now in Bangladesh).
1952 - He received Bachelor of Science at the University of Dhaka.
1954 - He received his Masters Degree at the University of Dhaka.
1958 - He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States.
1962 - He held the post of chairman of the Soil Science Department of Dhaka University and Dean of Biological Science of Dhaka University.
1984 - He worked as visiting professor in Cornell University in the United States and German Technical University, Gottingen University in Germany.
1991 - He was an adviser in the caretaker government.
- He became the chairman of the Public Service Commission for two years.
1995 - He became the chairman of the University Grants Commission for four years.
2002 - He became president of Bangladesh.
2006 - He was admitted on the 23rd of May to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
- He was taken to Singapore on the 24th of May and underwent a successful by-pass heart operation at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
- He was sworn in as the Chief Advisor of the Caretaker Government on the 29th of October.
2007 - He resigned from his position on the 11th of January as the Chief Advisor of the Caretaker Government.
