963-984 – Aelfric had his education at the Benedictine Old Minster at Winchester.


987 – Became a monk at Cerne Abbas, Dorset.


990-992 – Wrote "Catholic Homilies" which was written in Old English.


993-998 – Wrote the "Lives of the Saints", a compilation of sermons that was translated in Latin.


1005 – Became the first abbot of Eynsham, Oxford.
