1854 – Adamson was born in Bowdoon on August 13, 1854.

1874 – Graduated from Bowdoon College.

1876 – Studied law and was admitted to the bar.

1885-1889 – Became a judge in the city court of Carrollton.

1892 – Part of the delegate for the Democratic National Convention.

1897-1917 – Elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-fifth Congress and served from March 4, 1897 to December 18, 1917. On August 31, 1916, he introduced the Adamson Act legislation, calling for an eight hour workday and overtimepay. Appointed on December 17, 1917 as a member of the Board of United States General Appraisers.

1929 – Died in New York City on January 3, 1929.
