Adams, Llewelyn Sherman(Llewelyn Sherman A. Adams)

1899 - Born on the 8th of January in East Dover, Vermont.

1918 - He served in the U.S Marine Corps.

1920 - He received an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College.

1921 - He went into the lumber business, first in Headville, Vermont.

         - He was involved in banking.

1923 - He married Rachel White which gave him one son.

1941 - He entered state politics as a Republican legislator.

1944 - He was the Speaker of the House.

1945 - He served a term in the United States House of Representatives.

1946 - He made a failed effort to capture the Republican gubernatorial nomination in New Hampshire.

1950 - He formed a Re-organization Committee to recommend changes in state operations.

1951 - He served as chairman of the U.S. Conference of Governors for one year.

         - He was asked to be White House Chief of Staff for the new Republican president, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

1958 - He was pressured to resign, when a House subcommittee revealed him that he accepted an

                expensive vicuña overcoat and oriental rug.

1986 - He died on the 27th of October and buried at Riverside Cemetery.
